If you are planning to go on a long road trip in your automobile, van or RV, then you need to be aware of one of the important car accessories which I have encountered in a long time - the 12v air compressor.
Whether you are planning to take the Great Ocean Road, trek the Snowy Mountains or cross the Nullabor Plains, all it takes is one flat tyre to end your trip, generally miles far from the nearest city.
While you may have an extra tyre, depending on your age and fitness level, it can be difficult to remove the spare tyre and the jack from the boot, jack the car up correctly, undo the wheel nuts and replace the tyre. It's dirty work at the best of times and could be made much harder trying to do this during the night time.
Wouldn't it be less of a challenge to merely re inflate the tyre and continue on your way? This allows you to be able to take the car to a garage to have the tyre replaced by a mechanic, or at least let you continue your trip while waiting until day light to halt and replace it.
There are more methods to re inflate your tyre, for example canned air, but these techniques are often not that practical. The most beneficial way out is really to have an air compressor on board so that you can plug it in tyre and just re inflate it. But where would you plug it in?
