Acne Bouts Can Be Controlled

Acne, is one of the most common skin problems, and it affects the majority of people at some stage of their life. Acne bouts generally appear at the onset of puberty, when there are hormonal and emotional changes taking place within a teenagers developing body. The disorder can present itself as an odd pimple, a scattering of pimples on the body or a full blown case of unsightly, and painful pimples, sores, cysts, or nodules that become prominent features of a once, fresh young face.

People accept acne as a part of growing up, however, this train of thought does nothing to relieve the emotional state of the affected person. Basic skin care practices must be used daily to clean, and vitalize the skin. Professional advice should be sought if basic skin care techniques fail to control the outbreak.

An acne condition basically occurs, when the sebaceous glands produce an excessive amount of sebum, which causes the pores of the skin to clog up with dead cells, allowing bacteria to thrive. The trapped oil, under the skin, then erupts forming pimples and cysts. Researchers have not discovered the exact cause of acne, or why certain races are not bothered by the disorder. Genetics do play a certain role, as the condition does have hereditary tendencies. However, there are other elements that can induce bouts of acne, such as certain medications, chemical substances and amphetamines.

Mild bouts of acne can be treated with benzoyl peroxide, which will kill any bacteria. You should use a diluted solution at first to make sure that the skin does not become inflamed. After washing with peroxide you will need to apply a good quality moisturizer. Wash the infected area very gently twice a day, don't squeeze the zits or scratch them.

Wash your hair daily, particularly if it is oily, and keep it off your face with a tie or headband. Form a healthy diet, avoiding milk, seafood or too many carbohydrates. Adopt regular sleep patterns and get regular exercise. It is advisable to take vitamin B5 supplements as this essential vitamin promotes healthy hair and skin. It is also used as an ingredient in a variety of cosmetic products. Use a minimum amount of makeup, or none if possible. Heavy makeup may block the skins pores and exacerbate the condition.

Unfortunately, over the counter preparations will only deal with minor outbreaks of acne. If the condition fails to respond to basic treatment, then you will need to see a dermatologist for professional treatment. The earlier you you get treatment the less chance there is of the condition leaving permanent scars.
