Acne Linked To Dairy Products

By: La Hunter

Acne is the most common of skin diseases, affecting about eighty percent of the American population, it is also prevalent in most other parts of the world. Acne can strike people at any age, however it generally first attacks people who are in their teens. This has lead researchers to believe that acne outbreaks, are caused by the increased hormonal activity, which occurs during adolescence. This link to hormones has also lead researchers to conclude that a link exists between acne and dairy products.

Dairy products have long been regarded as beneficial, even essential, to infants and growing children, in order for them to have strong bones and healthy teeth. Cows milk is also loaded with hormones that are essential for the growth of their calves, which is why cows produce milk. There is an ever increasing demand for dairy products, which are mostly consumed by children and young adults, although there is a vast range of processed foods that contain some form of dairy produce. There are about 59 hormones in cows milk, including estrogen and progesterone, which means that babies, who have been raised on cows milk, are ingesting a dose of estrogen and progesterone with every sip that they take.

Studies have been conducted on people from other countries, and results have shown that people, whose staple diet does not include dairy products, have a very low incidence rate of acne vulgaris. Taking all things into consideration, the results are pretty convincing, especially when they are coupled with studies that show girls, who have been raised on dairy products, are maturing at an earlier age, growing taller and are more prone to breast cancer, as well as acne.

If you or your children suffer from an outbreak of acne, you would be well advised to take a look at your diet, to determine how much dairy food you are taking. The hormones that are contained in cows milk are passed on to the consumer, and dairy products such as cheese, cream and butter, will contain a concentration of these hormones.

When acne pimples first appear, suppress your desire for milk and dairy foods, and try confining your diet to fruit, vegetables, fish, lean meat and plenty of fresh water. Make sure that you check the label on any packaged food that you buy at the supermarket, because milk powder or other dairy products are contained in a large range of everyday food stuffs.

By performing daily exercise sessions, drinking plenty of fresh water, and abstaining from dairy products for a few weeks, you might find that your acne outbreaks have subsided or even disappeared. If this is so, then you have determined the cause of acne, in your particular case.
